The new MacBook Pro’s announced yesterday are #amazing. I can’t say enough about the innovative steps forward they have made. But…
“Industry Standard” USB-C ports are just that. Why is Apple calling them “Thunderbolt 3”? They are USB-C. Apple did have a hand in creating this new standard, but don’t put the Thunderbolt moniker on USB-C. It’s USB-C.
Secondly, Apple went on and on about replacing the industry standard 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7 with Lightning headphones. That’s well enough. But then why do the new MacBook Pro’s have 3.5mm headphone jacks?? Shouldn’t they at LEAST have Lightning output so you can use your Apple Headphones with them? And going back to the iPhone 7… why didn’t they JUST make USB-C charging ports/headphones? Just as small, versatile and just as digital. Now going back to MacBook Pro- so if they had done that (USB-C headphone/charger combo) with the iPhone 7, we’d have no 3.5mm jack in this new laptop. We’d be able to plug our USB-C headphones (from our iPhone 7) into our brand new, expensive 2016 MacBook Pro. Theres over $200 worth of adapters we’ll need if we want to keep our existing peripherals now anyway, but now we’ll have to be taking off/putting on the headphone adapter we got with our iPhone 7’s to go from Lightning to 3.5mm. (It’s the only adapter that comes free, and that’s with the purchase of the iPhone 7).
Apple always innovates. But sometimes they f*ck up. This was a f*ck up. If 3.5mm headphone jacks take up more space and are analog and everything about Lightning is better, why didn’t they just put a lightning port in this new MacBook Pro? Oh… wait… I wanted USB-C headphones, I forgot. Thanks Apple. Now I’m just chasing my tail. I think there are a lot of other people getting dizzy too.
The amazing new MacBook Pros. (Adapters and sticking to Apples own reasoning not included.)
