Anyone who has an RV and nomads around knows or at least heard about #SlabCity. It’s an old decommissioned Military base near the Salton Sea In Southern California. When the Military left, they tore down all the structures but Left the concrete slabs (hence the name Slab City). Well, it’s dubbed as “The last free place in America”. It has dozens of permanent people in makeshift dwellings, but most are in RV’s of one type or another. It’s impossibly hot for 9 months of the year, but starting in about November-ish, tons of snowbirds and curious travelers flock to the place to either revisit old friends and experiences having done it before, or as first-timers who have heard about the place and are dying of curiosity. I’m the one dying of curiosity. I want to see if it really is a cross between Woodstock & Burning Man. And I just want to go to say I’ve done it. Sadly, 26 isn’t coming, he is going to stay with the BF where we’ve been for the last 12 days getting ready for this outing. The turtles are staying behind too. Although they don’t protest when the house rumbles and roars down the highway, it’s just easier to leave them for this trip.
I’ll try and post daily photos and videos. I hope to see all the good, and all the bad. Most people who have been before say it’s riddled with Meth-Heads. #Can’tWait! LOL.
I’m gonna stop in Los Angeles for another new pair of tires for the motorhome. The ones I got a few months ago are going to move to the back, and I’m going to put new wider ones on the front that will hopefully deliver a bit better handling. Anyway… I’m babbling.
